Abigail

I may be a hound dog, but the only times you’ll hear me howl are in my sleep – with eleven years behind me, I’ve lots of stories to tell. Instead, my voice is soft – I prefer to speak through actions, by cuddling and wagging my tail, even if it’s just in response to a quick glance thrown my way. My favorite companions are of the furry sort – cat or dog, doesn’t matter, I just like having someone around at all times. I will tell you, I do not like crates though – they stress me out terribly. Instead, a gated area would be far more to my preference – and if you or your other pets want to keep me company there, I will snuggle right up with you.

An old girl like me gets told, “You have such a beautiful face, and what a lovely waggy tail!” Both of those things are true: I do have a beautiful face and a lovely waggy tail. Unfortunately, I am also much heavier than I am meant to be, due to neglect – and that’s made my life much harder than I would have liked at this advanced age. Due to my fuller size, my wonderful foster mom has put me on a weight loss program, and I’m already feeling better!!

I believe the best kind of relationships start out with honesty: so I would like to be honest and tell you that my ideal forever home is one where I can continue to lose weight and get back to a size that allows me to be more mobile and healthy. My ideal forever home is one where I can snuggle with companions, be they of the human or furry sort. My ideal forever home is one that demonstrates patience and understanding and willingness to help me get up and down stairs until I can take them on again on my own. I know that this may not appeal to everyone – but that’s why not everyone is my future forever home.

Eleven years may not seem like a long time, but it’s been a lifetime of learning for me. I know that I am an old soul who has so much love and tenderness to give, and I will reward you with enduring sweetness and affection as a thank you for allowing me to live out my years in comfort, health, and love.

If you’d like to make me forever yours, please submit an adoption application. My adoption fee is $150, which covers the cost of any routine vetting, rabies and distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention, microchipping, boarding or transport costs if applicable and 30 days of FREE 24PetWatch pet insurance.
