River
Hi! I’m River. Not sure how I got that name. I was a stray so maybe I was found near a river. But I’m happy to have a name and a temporary home, though I really want a real and forever home! As you can see by my photo I’m a pretty cute min pin/Jack Russell mix. I’m a medium sized dog at around 20 pounds, but since I don’t like to be picked up you don’t need to worry about straining your back! I’m five, so I’ve still got a lot of energy but I know how to chill and relax. I do love to play, and I like dogs and cats, as long as they like me.
I love to go for walks and do really well on a leash. I do a happy dance when you tell me it’s time for a walk! I’m potty trained and I will let you know if I need to go out. Along with cats and dogs, you know who else I like? People! I LOVE people. Pet me, play with me, take me for a walk– I’m so there! And cuddling is pretty great too! I know a few commands like sit, lie and come. Come is my favorite, because that means I’ll be with you! If you have small children that’s great because I do fine with them.
I have something called Cushing’s disease, which is a benign growth on my pituitary gland, but I don’t even need medication for it and it doesn’t affect me in any way. I am crate trained and will go in willingly, though my foster mama says I’m so well behaved she doesn’t think I need to be crated. I’m a good boy! I’m so happy to be living with a family, but I know there is someone out there who would like to take me home forever! If you think that might be you let me know! I bet if we met we’d just love each other!
