Mittens’ Miracle Fund

City and county shelters rely on us to pull rescues – especially those who are in need of extra TLC – regardless of whether they’re full or have open space. Our expert volunteers have been doing this long enough that we have become a trusted resource when they need help. Regardless of how the animal arrived to AARF, we are fully  committed to the care and rehabilitation of these neglected and abused animals that come through our doors.

That means our medical expenses are steep. For a 100% volunteer non-profit organization that has about 200 animals in the rescue at any given time, it adds up. AARF’s total medical costs for 2016 were upwards of $140,000. Without the generous rescue discounts we receive from our veterinary partners, that bill would have been well over $200,000. Here’s where you can help.

Mittens’ Miracle Fund is dedicated to the expenses of animals in extreme need. A healthy cat will require about $250-$300 in veterinary bills, while a dog might require $300-$500. In a case of abuse, neglect, or extreme medical need, bills may run upwards of $5,000 per animal. Your support to Mittens’ Miracle Fund will be used to cover the medical care and rehabilitation of abuse and neglect cases. Named for Spokescat Mittens, who was once a victim of cruelty herself, we rely on this fund to make sure every nightmare beginning can become an AARFily Ever After, thanks to your help.
